Getting to Landeskogen
Landeskogen is located in Grendi, between Byglandsfjord and Bygland in Setesdal. Whether you arrive by car, bus, train, plane, or ferry, the journey through Setesdal is part of the experience.
By car
Landeskogen is located in Grendi, close to National Road 9 through Setesdal. Turn off National Road 9 at Grendi and follow the signs to Landeskogen.
From Kristiansand
Follow National Road 9 north through Setesdal. The journey takes around 1 hour and 20 minutes and passes through a varied cultural landscape along the Otra river. At Grendi, follow the signs to Landeskogen.
From Oslo
Via Telemark and Haukeligrend/Hovden or Dalen
A scenic route through Telemark and across the mountains before following Setesdal southwards.
Via Arendal – Evje
Follow the E18 to Arendal and then National Road 42 to Evje before the final stretch to Landeskogen.
Via Kristiansand
Follow the E18 to Kristiansand and then National Road 9 north through Setesdal.
From Stavanger
Via Suleskar (summer route)
The shortest and most spectacular route goes through Sirdal, across the Suleskar Road, and onwards south through Setesdal. The road is open seasonally and closed during winter.
Via Helleland – Tonstad – Evje
Follow the E39 to Helleland, where you turn onto National Road 42 via Tonstad to Evje, before continuing on National Road 9 to Grendi.
Via Kristiansand
Follow the E39 to Kristiansand and then National Road 9 north through Setesdal.
By bus
Agder Public Transport’s (AKT) route 170 operates between Kristiansand and Haukeli.
The nearest bus stop to Landeskogen is Grendi. From the bus stop, it is approximately 800 metres’ walk to the main entrance.
Please note that not all departures on route 170 stop at Grendi. Several departures terminate at Evje or Byglandsfjord. If you travel on one of these services, you will need to continue by taxi to Landeskogen.

By train
The nearest railway station is Kristiansand.
From Kristiansand, you can continue by AKT bus route 170 to Grendi, or by rental car or taxi to Landeskogen.
By plane
The nearest airport is Kristiansand Airport, Kjevik.
From the airport, you can travel to Kristiansand city centre by airport bus or local bus, and then take AKT bus route 170 towards Setesdal. You can also rent a car at the airport and drive to Landeskogen.
By ferry
Kristiansand has ferry connections to Denmark.
From the ferry terminal, it is a short distance to Kristiansand bus station and railway station, where you can continue by bus, or travel north by car through Setesdal.
Parking
Free parking is available on site.
From the parking area, it is only a short walk to the main entrance. Follow the signs when you arrive.
Accessibility
The main building at Landeskogen was built in the early 20th century. We want as many people as possible to be able to visit, while recognising that the building’s age and design create certain limitations.
The main public areas are accessible, but some parts of the building may have limited accessibility.
