Terms and Conditions for Residency Stays and Use of the Printmaking Studio

These terms and conditions define the framework for residency stays at Landeskogen Kunstsanatorium and the use of Kunstprenteverket's printmaking studio. They apply to all artists, students, researchers, and other users participating in the residency programme or using the studio facilities.

The purpose of these terms is to ensure a safe, professional, and productive working environment for all users, while safeguarding the buildings, historic equipment, and shared facilities.

These terms apply to all residency stays at Landeskogen Kunstsanatorium and to the use of Kunstprenteverket's printmaking studio.

By submitting an application, confirming a residency stay, or booking access to the studio, the applicant accepts these terms and conditions.

Landeskogen Kunstsanatorium reserves the right to update these terms. The version applicable at the time of entering into an agreement shall apply.

Residency places are awarded based on a professional assessment of the application. Submission of an application does not guarantee admission.

Landeskogen Kunstsanatorium may request additional information or documentation before an application is processed.

Upon acceptance, the applicant will receive written confirmation of the agreed residency period, prices, and any additional conditions.

A residency stay includes accommodation and workspace according to the type of residency agreed upon.

Accommodation is provided in private rooms within a shared residency apartment. Each resident artist has their own spacious private room, as well as access to shared living areas, kitchen, bathroom, and other communal facilities.

Access to the printmaking studio, materials, technical assistance, transport, or other services is only included if stated in the agreement or price list.

Current prices are published on Landeskogen’s website and may be changed without notice. Confirmed agreements are not affected by later price changes.

Unless otherwise agreed:

• residency fees and studio access are invoiced before arrival,
• additional services are invoiced after use,
• payment must be received by the stated due date.

Failure to pay may result in cancellation of the reservation or termination of the agreement.

Cancellations must be submitted in writing.

Unless otherwise agreed, the following applies:

• more than 30 days before arrival: full refund, minus any applicable fees,
• 14–30 days before arrival: 50% of the residency fee will be refunded,
• less than 14 days before arrival: no refund.

In cases of documented illness or other exceptional circumstances, Landeskogen Kunstsanatorium may, at its discretion, offer a new residency period or provide a full or partial refund.

Changes to the residency period or residency type are subject to availability and must be agreed upon in writing.

In exceptional circumstances, Landeskogen Kunstsanatorium may need to change the residency period or accommodation arrangements. If significant changes become necessary, the affected artist will be contacted as soon as possible.

Users of Kunstprenteverket's printmaking studio must follow applicable safety regulations and instructions from Landeskogen Kunstsanatorium.

Machines, presses, and specialised equipment may only be used by persons with the necessary training or by agreement with studio staff. Landeskogen Kunstsanatorium may restrict access to certain machines or work areas for safety or technical reasons.

Some machines and objects at Kunstprenteverket are cultural heritage objects and form part of the studio's collection of historic production equipment. Such machines may only be used after special training and approval.

Landeskogen Kunstsanatorium determines at any given time which equipment is available for general use and which equipment may only be used under supervision.

Users are responsible for treating premises, machines, tools, and other equipment with care, and must clean and organise their workspace after use.

The use of chemicals, solvents, and other potentially hazardous materials must follow applicable safety procedures.

Flammable waste, such as used rags, paper, cloths, solvent-containing materials, or other waste presenting a fire risk, must be placed in designated approved containers and must not be disposed of with ordinary waste.

Consumable materials, specialised materials, and technical assistance are charged according to the current price list unless explicitly included in the residency agreement or studio booking.

Artwork, printing plates, lithographic stones, rollers, type, paper, materials, and other equipment belonging to the artist may be stored in the studio during an ongoing residency and between agreed studio periods by prior agreement with Landeskogen Kunstsanatorium.

Storage is at the artist's own risk, and the artist is responsible for ensuring that materials and equipment are properly labelled and stored in designated areas. Storage must not interfere with other activities in the studio or restrict access to shared equipment and workspaces.

At the end of the residency or studio period, artwork, materials, and personal equipment must be removed by the agreed deadline unless another storage agreement has been made.

If artwork or materials are left behind without agreement, Landeskogen Kunstsanatorium may store them for a limited period. If they are not collected within a reasonable time after written notice, Landeskogen Kunstsanatorium reserves the right to discard, recycle, or otherwise dispose of the materials without financial liability.

Use of the accommodation and studio facilities is at the user's own risk.

Resident artists and studio users are responsible for having valid travel insurance, health insurance, and any other necessary insurance coverage.

Landeskogen Kunstsanatorium is not responsible for loss, theft, or damage to personal belongings, artwork, or equipment unless the damage is caused by gross negligence or wilful misconduct.

All intellectual property rights to artworks and projects remain the property of the artist.

Landeskogen Kunstsanatorium claims no ownership of works produced during the residency unless specifically agreed otherwise.

Landeskogen Kunstsanatorium may photograph facilities, studio activities, and events for documentation and communication purposes.

The artist’s name, artwork, project description, and information about the residency may be used in connection with the residency programme, exhibitions, and other communication.

Where close-up images or extensive documentation of artworks are used for promotional purposes, this will normally be done in dialogue with the artist.

Residency participants must show consideration for other guests, resident artists, staff, and the buildings.

Shared areas must be kept clean and treated with respect. Each participant is responsible for cleaning up after their own use of kitchens, bathrooms, and other shared facilities.

Quiet hours, shared spaces, and practical routines must be respected.

Visitors are welcome during daytime hours, provided they show consideration for other residents and the activities at Landeskogen Kunstsanatorium. Overnight guests are only permitted with prior approval from Landeskogen Kunstsanatorium.

The resident is responsible for keys and any access cards provided. Loss or failure to return keys or access cards may result in liability for replacement costs.

Smoking is not permitted indoors in any of Landeskogen Kunstsanatorium's buildings.

Open flames are not permitted, either indoors or outdoors, unless specifically agreed in writing with Landeskogen Kunstsanatorium as part of an artistic project or other approved activity.

Pets may only be brought by prior agreement.

Upon departure, the room must be left in a clean and orderly condition. Personal belongings, artworks, and materials must be removed by the agreed check-out time unless otherwise arranged.

The resident is responsible for damage to buildings, inventory, equipment, or studio facilities caused by negligent or improper use. Normal wear resulting from ordinary use is not included in this responsibility.

Personal data is processed in accordance with Landeskogen Kunstsanatorium's privacy policy.

Information is used only for processing applications, administering residency stays, and other necessary communication.

Significant breaches of these terms, safety regulations, or Norwegian law may result in termination of the residency without refund.

These terms are governed by Norwegian law.

Any disputes shall first be sought resolved through dialogue. If this is not successful, the matter shall be handled by the ordinary Norwegian courts.
