For artists

A place for research, production, and new connections

Landeskogen Kunstsanatorium invites artists to work, explore, and develop projects in a unique setting in Setesdal.

An arts centre with space for artistic processes

Landeskogen Kunstsanatorium is being developed as an arts centre with a particular focus on printmaking, material-based art, and artistic research.

Established in 1916 as Norway's first state tuberculosis sanatorium, the site carries a history that continues to shape the experience of its buildings and surrounding landscape. Today, this setting provides the foundation for a vibrant artistic environment where history meets contemporary artistic practice.

Through our residency programme, Kunstprenteverket, exhibitions, and collaborations, we aim to create a place where artists can work over extended periods, exchange ideas, and develop new projects.

More than a place to work

A residency is about more than access to a studio or workshop. It is about having the time, space, and environment needed to develop ideas.

At Landeskogen, historic buildings, nature, craftsmanship, and contemporary art come together. We believe that such surroundings can open up new perspectives, encourage slower processes, and create encounters that leave a lasting impression – both in the artwork and between people.

We are developing Landeskogen step by step and welcome artists to become part of this journey. Whether you come to work at Kunstprenteverket, take part in a residency, or collaborate on a project, we hope your stay becomes part of both your own and the place’s continuing story.
