Film screening “Vi To og Lito”

This is the story of two men who have dedicated their lives to lithography—a meticulous and physically demanding printmaking technique that first emerged in 1796.

Since the 1980s, master printers Bror Mikkelborg and Erik Solheim have together been a powerful and invaluable driving force for the artistic environment that developed around the lithography press at the State Crafts and Art Industry School and the Oslo National Academy of the Arts. The lithography workshop was driven forward by enthusiasts and passion rather than academic and streamlined processes, and grew into a creative hub frequented by Norway’s leading artists.

Seen through the eyes of Bror and Erik, and the artists they have worked with over 40 years, this film offers a unique insight into the mysterious craft behind some of the most important works in Norwegian art history.

This film is not only a story about lithography. It is also a story about friendship, dedication to one’s craft, and the encounter between craftsmanship and a present day in which it seems increasingly less sustainable. Bror and Erik had a vision that their legacy would be carried on.
